Established in 1892, the Terminal City Club is Vancouver’s most prominent private business club. In 2007, TCC hired SSDG to design and manage the renovation of its premises. The challenge was to create a new image to distinguish TCC from other private business clubs, and to attract new younger members while satisfying the existing membership. Improving the aging facilities would also increase overall usage of the Club, resulting in a dynamic and energized environment. “Honouring Tradition, Embracing Tomorrow” became the project’s tagline.

SSDG’s design team took a tailored and sophisticated approach to re-establishing the grandeur of the club, balancing tradition with contemporary style. High-profile social areas such as Cuveé Wine Bar was given top priority: storage for the Wine Bar’s renowned wine collection became a central design feature, and the new 3” thick cast glass bar top dazzles against a background of rich dark wood.
