Sparkling Hill Resort in Vernon, BC is a balance between opposing ideas. Situated amongst the rugged mountains overlooking Lake Okanagan, the resort is at once understated elegance and powerful, the shapes of the rooms and spaces are both organic and angular which is reflective of Swarovski crystals and the landscape, creating an interior that is both captivating and contemplative.

The resort is the first of its kind in North America. The client’s goal was to create a holistic wellness resort; not just a place to stay but a place to change your lifestyle. While the North American spa industry is typically focused on pampering, the European approach is more therapeutic. The challenge was to create visual harmony out of what used to be a contradiction of terms: health and pleasure. Perched on the edge of a granite ridge overlooking mountains and a pristine lake, the spa is a jewel in the crown of the resort.

There is a strong connection to the outdoors, exposing the natural beauty of the landscape. The design team created a variety of spaces for guests to explore during extended wellness vacations. The central corridor of the expansive spa uses refined curvilinear shapes and a neutral palette, weaving guests through a path to discover the various specialties within. The clean forms and undulating surfaces create an oasis of calm.

Awe-inspiring crystal elements were seamlessly integrated throughout creating focal points and sparkle which contrasts with the raw honest beauty of the landscape. The result is a spiritual experience, with design inspired by nature.
