Softlanding, a Vancouver-based tech company, contacted SSDG to redesign their 6,300sf downtown office to not only improve the look and feel for clients and their 45 employees, but to also facilitate the transition from a multiple team-based culture to that of “one company.”

Creating a strong corporate brand presence throughout the office was also crucial to the “one company” approach. Immediately upon entering, the Softlanding logo is prominently displayed in the waiting area where comfortable seating and a personalized artwork wall of the owners’ Westcoast photographs welcome visitors. Brand elements and colours are also carried throughout the office to strengthen the sense of identity for staff and clients alike.

For Softlanding, it was critical to create an amazing workspace to not only attract but retain their existing employees. SSDG took an open-concept approach to the workstation and office design to ensure all staff had access to the incredible views of the North Shore mountains and Burrard Inlet, while also positioning the main boardroom to capture its own spectacular view looking East. To bring the teams together socially, a large kitchen area was designed to serve as a gathering space for all employees to meet and mingle at lunch, for after work beers, and at company events.

The new office is a hit with both staff and clients and we have seen a “noticeably positive impact with potential staff candidates when they come to the office for interviews…it has definitely increased our attractiveness to candidates in a very competitive hiring market.” Shaun Roberts, President of Softlanding
