Sparkling Hill Resort in Vernon, BC is a balance between opposing ideas. Situated amongst the rugged mountains overlooking Lake Okanagan, the resort is at once understated elegance and powerful, the shapes of the rooms and spaces are both organic and angular which is reflective of Swarovski crystals and the landscape, creating an interior that is both captivating and contemplative.
The resort is the first of its kind in North America. The client’s goal was to create a holistic wellness resort; not just a place to stay but a place to change your lifestyle. With the idea of “slow travel” and “staycations” on the rise, hotel packages are designed to encourage longer stays. Staff are extensively trained in the Austrian art of service offering a European twist to Okanagan regional flair.
The hotel suites optimize the lake and mountain views. Full height window wall brings natural light through the suite allowing for panoramic views. The room was divided into “wet” and “dry” zones, separated by a Powerwall. This custom wood furniture item contains a television, mini-fridge, laundry bin, and niches for glassware, towels, robes, and toiletries, in addition to custom crystal and lighting effects. Lighting over the custom two-person bathtub creates the illusion you are floating in space, blurring the line between interior & exterior.
The hotel was a collaborative project with all members of the multi-disciplined team focused on the same goal: creating a truly extraordinary guest experience in one of the most beautiful places in the world.
